Today I went to my friend Yoko's house. Yoko's house is in Kamakura. It took one hour by train to go from Tokyo to Kamakura. Yoko's house was large and had a Japanese-style garden. There were beautiful colored carp swimming inside a large pond.
At Yoko's house I saw a bonsai tree for the first time. It was a pine tree about fifty centimeters tall, and its branches were twisted this way and that. Yoko's grandfather is fond of bonsai and gets up every morning at five to take care of them.
At Yoko's house there is a tearoom. It is a small room of four and a half tatami mats. The room has a small entrance that you enter from the garden. Yoko's mother is a tea-ceremony teacher. [In her room] I drank green tea for the first time. It was a little bitter, but delicious.
